Halloween Help: 5 Halloween Costume Ideas for Women

Hey lovelies.

Halloween is fast approaching and I am so so excited! Halloween is one of my favourite holidays because I love dressing up! Over the past few years though, I have found it more difficult to decide what to go as, so here is a handy list for all of you who are struggling to find a costume this year!

1) A Disney Princess- This year my original plan was to go as Alice in Wonderland, but that changed once my flatmates and I decided to do a group costume. Dressing as a Disney character is perfect because a lot of the time you can DIY a costume for cheap, and who doesn't want to be a Disney Princess for the day! As well as this, if you are more into the 'scary' part of Halloween, you can change yourself into 'Dead' Cinderella or 'Dead' Alice in Wonderland really easily with a bit of pale makeup and some fake blood.

2) Princess Peach/ Princess Daisy/Female Mario/ Female Luigi- This year my flatmates and I are going as Mario Kart characters. We have a Mario, Luigi, Toad, Waluigi, a female Mario and a female Luigi. I really wanted to go as Princess Peach and my flatmate Ellie to go as Princess Daisy, but we couldn't find any decent costumes for cheap. But if you are more willing to spend a bit of money then go for it!

3) A Powerpuff Girl- A few years ago for Halloween, me and 2 of my friends went as dead Powerpuff girls. It was a really easy DIY costume, all you need is a dress/ long top either in blue, red or green! I went as Bubbles because I'm blonde. It was really cheap, easy and fun, so if you and 2 of your girl friends want to do a group costume, this one is definitely a winner!

4) Lara Croft- About 4 years ago my friend threw a videogame themed Halloween party. I know NOTHING about video games, so I decided to go as the only female video game character I could think of- Lara Croft. Again, super easy and you probably have the components of this outfit at home already! I just got my costume a bit dirty and covered it in fake blood, threw my hair up into a ponytail and I was good to go!

5) A cat/ devil/ dead school girl- Some years, we really just wanna be basic. There is nothing wrong with going as any of these things for Halloween so don't let people tell you it's basic or boring because you will look fab anyway! I went as a devil last year and I loved it so screw what anyone else thinks!

I hope you enjoyed this short little post giving you  a few ideas as what to go as for Halloween. Let me know if you use any of these ideas!

Thanks for reading.

Tenerife Travels: What's in my hand luggage?

Hello lovelies,

I uploaded a 'What's in my handbag' post a few weeks ago and people seemed to enjoy it; so, as I am heading to Tenerife for my first holiday away just Sam and myself, I thought I'd write up a 'What's in my hand luggage' blog post too. Some of the things in my hand luggage you would have seen before in my 'What's in my handbag?' post, so I do apologise.

The bag I used as a hand luggage bag is this gorgeous beach bag from Matalan that I bought a couple of years ago. I thought it was the perfect size and by having a beach bag as a hand luggage bag I'd be killing 2 birds with 1 stone, and not have to pack it in my suitcase.

As I bought this bag about 2 years ago I don't think Matalan still sell it, but I'm sure you'll be able to find something similar, like this one.

Now, the first thing that was in my hand luggage bag was obviously my  passport, which I couldn't photograph as it is still at Sam's house..oops. Sam carried round all the other flight, hotel and transfer details so that I didn't panic about losing them, which was nice.

The second thing was my phone and charger. I couldn't go on holiday without my phone as a)how can I go on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook etc, and b)my mum wanted to hear from me literally every second of the day.

You've seen my phone before in previous posts so I'm not going to bore you with the details, but of course, I needed to photograph it because it was at the top of my hand luggage, or in my hand, the whole time.

The next thing is my purse which, of course, had some English pounds and some euros in. Again, you've seen my purse so I'm not going to say any more about it.

I took my iPad in my hand luggage with me. I honestly could not tell you which iPad I have, just that it's white on the front with a silver back. With this I, of course, took my headphones but you've seen them before and I can't actually find them at the moment so I didn't photograph them. But as you probably already know, they are the standard iPhone 7 headphones.

My iPad was my saviour on the flight. Sam was watching movies on his phone and reading, so I spent the entire flight there watching 'Bad Moms' and 'Dirty Dancing', and watched 'The Bodyguard' on the way home.

I also took two magazines to keep me occupied both on the plane and on the sunbed, but I ended up reading hardly any of either of them.

It's a good job that I picked both of them up in WH Smiths in the Duty Free for only £1 each.

As well as my magazines, I took a book with me. The book I took with me is actually one from my set texts at university and it is a mammoth book of 1,500 pages. I had every intention of reading at least 20 pages a day, but alas, I only read 25 pages the entire time we were there, oops.

Much to Sam's disgust, I took a travel 'Monopoly' with me, in case Sam and I were so bored one day that we had to whip out the board games.

Sam hates 'Monopoly', so his response was "We are not playing that!" And unfortunately, we didn't use it all week.

The next thing that I packed in my hand luggage is something that I didn't use, but will definitely be using for my trip to Thailand next Summer. This travel diary is so cute and has sections to write about the flight; hotel; activities; and for people you meet on your travels to write little messages, which I think is just adorable!

I had my hairbrush in my hand luggage bag because when I brushed my hair at 2am that morning I couldn't be bothered to open my suitcase and pack it in there. It's just a standard circular paddle brush that you have seen before in my other bag blog post.

The final thing in my hand luggage bag was a set of spare clothes for when I landed. On the way there I had a cute little pink playsuit that I changed into at the airport because it was BOILING. On the way back I had a little grey comfy jumpsuit and a hoodie. I put the hoodie on but didn't bother with changing out of my shorts because I just wanted to get home. I wish I did change though, I was freezing. I would have photographed both of these outfits but one is in the wash and the other is in the tumble-dryer.

As well as this, I also took my sunglasses but they were on my head the majority of the time, rather than in my hand luggage, and they are still the same £10 ones that were in my other post.

I hope you enjoyed this post as much as you did the last 'What's in my bag?' post. I will be posting a blog post all about my time in Tenerife next week, so don't forget to give that a read! If you haven't read my 'What's in my handbag?' post, then here it is.

With love, Chloe x

What's in my handbag?

Hello lovelies,

I have been wracking my brain trying to think of post ideas, using what I like to read and Youtube videos I like to watch as inspiration, and I realised that some of my favourite posts to read and watch are 'what's in my handbag?' posts, so I decided to post one of these for you.

The handbag that I use all the time at the moment is this absolutely gorgeous brown Michael Kors bag in the colour 'luggage' that I bought with some of the money that I got for my 18th birthday nearly two years ago.

Now, I'm not one to splurge on expensive designer handbags, shoes or clothes, but when I saw this out Christmas shopping in Bristol with my dad on Christmas Eve (yes, the Hughes' leave everything to the last minute) I knew I had to get it, but that it was too close to Christmas or my birthday, which is on New Year's Eve, to put it on my list, and so a month later, using some money I had received over the festive period, I threw caution to the wind, stopped listening to everyone who said I was wasting my money, and splurged the £315 on the bag of my dreams.

I love everything about this bag. The size is perfect to fit all my crap that I cart around with me, but not too big that it looks awkward and unnatural. The versatility of having drop down straps and a long across the shoulder straps means that I can take it literally anywhere. The interior is stunning and practical, with 4 open pockets and a zipped pocket; and the 'luggage' brown colour means that it can match with any outfit, but isn't as boring as a black bag.

Now, getting into all 'my crap that I cart around with me. The first thing that's always in my bag is, of course, my phone. I have the iPhone 7 in 'black' which is the matte black shade. The case that I have on my phone at the moment is this one by Kate Spade. It's a really cute clear case with rose gold dots scattered across it, and the signature Kate Spade logo at the bottom. I can't find it online so I'm not sure if they sell it any longer, but I got it when I bought the phone and I think it was around £35.

The next thing in my bag constantly is my purse. For this Christmas/ birthday I am asking for this matching Michael Kors purse, also in the 'luggage' brown to go with the handbag, but for the time being I've got this cute little black purse that I got for Christmas a few years ago from 'the dogs' (hence the dog on the front). I think 'the dogs' AKA mum bought it from Debenhams, but I'm not sure.

It's a bit tattered because I've had it so long, and it hasn't got much inside it in the way of money-lol @ student life :( - but I think the size is fab as it fits perfectly inside any bag, including little clutches that I take on nights out, and it has lots of compartments to hold all my bank cards, gift cards, ID, student ID, stamps, receipts, etc.

Of course I have my keys in my bag, because otherwise I wouldn't be able to go anywhere/ get back inside the house. On my keys I have my house key and car keys, which are attached to a little keyring that Sam bought me that has a picture of a Little Miss character and says 'Little Miss Late' on it; and my key to my university house which I will be living in from the end of September. This key is attached to a keyring with a little plastic diamond on it that I won in a Christmas cracker. I put my uni house key on this keyring to separate it from the others, so that when I do move back to Bath and leave my car at home, I don't need to take all my keys with me and my mum is able to drive the car if she needs to.

The next thing that I keep in my bag all the time is my headphones, which are usually kept in one of the little pockets inside the bag. I've only got the bog standard, run of the mill iphone 7 headphones, so nothing exciting, but you never know when you're going to need them and the worst thing is when you're sat on a long train journey and realise you've forgotten them. Trust me, it's happened to me, FML. I roll my headphones up and secure them in place with bobby pins so that they don't unravel and get all tangled, and in the process I am killing two birds with one stone as this means that I always have emergency bobby pins on me too, incase of a hair emergency. There are also always a few loose bobby pins in one of the pockets. (No birds were actually killed in the making of this blog post)

My next item in my bag is my sunglasses. Now that it's summer in England we sometimes get treated to a few measly hours of sun and so these bad boys are needed just in case Mr Sunshine decides to show his face. These sunglasses are nothing special. I do not trust myself with expensive designer sunglasses as I either break them or lose them- the last pair ended up in the sea in Devon and will probably have washed up on the coast of Africa by now. So because of my inability to look after sunglasses, I stick to the cheap pairs. These ones were actually from Boots at the airport on my way to skiing and cost me £10.

I always carry perfume around with me, and I often carry a deodorant around in my bag too, just incase. The perfume that I am loving for daytime recently is this Elizabeth Arden Green Tea and Cucumber one which my mum bought back from Duty Free for me last summer, it's so fresh and smells gorgeous; but I also absolutely love to carry round Benefit's 'Ring my Bella' perfume as it smells divine, is in adorable travel-sized packaging, and has a punny name. -sorry-

I always carry my hairbrush to sort out any bad hair days that might occur. This one is like a circular paddle brush that is perfect for sorting out my knotty scrag of rats-tails and transforming them into luscious locks.

I will usually have whatever lip product I am wearing that day in my bag, alongside a chapstick to touch up my lipstick with and make sure my lips continue to look silky smooth. I'm not really a lipstick kinda gal so at the moment I have been slathering my lips in lipsalve to soften them, and then applying my Model Co Illusion Lip liner, which is the perfect natural nude, made to create the illusion of fuller lips.

I suffer from Asthma and panic attacks so that means that I always have to carry my inhalers around with me. Luckily, I hardly ever need to use them, but I have my brown preventer that I am supposed to take twice a day, and my blue reliever that is taken as needed.

And that's it. That is the rundown of all the stuff that I carry around with me in my gorgeous handbag.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I know it was a little different but I am excited to be posting some different stuff and I am glad to be back!

With love,
Chloe x
