Tenerife Travels: My Week in Paradise

Hello lovelies,

Ahh this post is two weeks late, I am SO sorry. I moved back to university just over two weeks ago and it has been pretty hectic since, so I haven't really had the time to write and post, which is really sad! I definitely need to get more organised with my blogging so that I have a backlog of posts ready for each week in advance when I know I'm going to be busy, but I didn't think to do that before moving back to uni!

My week in Tenerife feels like a lifetime ago! At the time of writing this, I went on holiday a month and 5 days ago, which is crazy! I wish I could turn back time, Sam and I had the most amazing first holiday by ourselves and we can't wait to go on our next one-hopefully next year but with me already booked to go to Thailand and a possible trip back to Tenerife for a hen-do, money will be a bit tight. Fingers crossed we can go away somewhere- I've got my heart set on going to Mykonos at the moment but I don't know how reasonable I am being. We shall see I suppose!

Anyway, on with the post! This is going to be more pictures than anything else, but I will try and go into more detail on the exciting things we did.

Our hotel was called the Hotel Aguamarina Golf, a 4* hotel in Golf Del Sur, a 15 minute drive away from Playa De Las Americas. It was lovely and housed everything we needed. We also went all inclusive, meaning that we had already paid for all of our food and drinks at the hotel and we didn't need to worry about carrying money with us everywhere which was nice.

The pool area was beautiful. It had the bar, jacuzzi and kids pool on the first level as you walked out of the hotel reception, and the main pool was down a set of stairs. There was always plenty of sunbeds around the pool which was nice, and we managed to get a good sunbathing spot every day (bonus!)

Our room was pretty basic but it was large and clean with a TV so that was all we wanted. We didn't spend much time in there anyway-just sleeping and changing.

Possibly my favourite part of the week was our visit to Siam Park Water Park. It was amazing! The rides were really exhilarating and Sam and I had so much fun going down them together. Most of the rides you can choose to go down alone or in a pair, some rides you have to go in groups or pairs and some you have to ride alone, but it was nice to be able to go down some of the scarier rides with Sam. I even faced my fears by going down the Tower of Power, a ride with a 28m drop than can make you reach a speed of 80km/h, and goes underneath a shark tank! Never did I imagine I'd go on anything like that, and while I wouldn't say that I enjoyed it- the ride only lasted 7 seconds after an hour queue, so there wasn't much time to enjoy it- I am SO glad I did it because I would have been angry with myself if I didn't do it. Another favourite was the lazy river which turns into rapids and ends up as a lazy river under the shark tank. And of course Sealion Island was adorable!

Another favourite day of mine was our trip up Mount Teide, despite having to be up SUPER early. Seeing 6:30am whilst you're on holiday is a crime. Now, despite being FREEZING-silly us forgot that the air was going to be cold so we didn't wear jackets or anything cold and spent the hour we were outside shivering- it was amazing. The views are breathtaking and the cable-car ride up further was so worth it. The only thing I'd say, is that if mountains and hiking are your thing, do the full day trip rather than the half-day trip that we did, because we didn't have time to hike to the top.

We made friends with another couple while we were out there, Hope (pictured above) and Freddy. I'm SO glad we made friends because it made days like the day we went to the beach so much more fun, and the taxi a lot cheaper. When we went to the Playa De Las Americas beach we rented a paddle boat with a slide for an hour which was so fun, and we went on a banana boat. The banana boat was TERRIFYING but so fun, until we nearly lost Sam at sea! Sam fell off and the guy driving the speedboat didn't see and couldn't hear us screaming for him to turn around so kept driving for like another 5 minutes! That was so stressful because we were going so fast that I couldn't see where Sam was, and although we all had life jackets on, I was worried that he was hurt and we were SO far out so swimming back just wouldn't have been an option. Luckily, after about 5 minutes, the guy heard us and turned back- so Sam was found safe and sound chilling in the middle of the ocean. Funny in hindsight, not so funny at the time!

Having friends also made our evenings a lot more fun. We were able to play drinking games and watch the entertainment all together, which was great, until they all volunteered me to hold a snake during the snake show. I don't mind snakes but this one was very big and really liked being close to my face.

It was so nice to go away with just Sam as it meant we could go and do whatever we wanted. One night we went out to a Chinese and Japanese restaurant and had their Teppanyaki food which was AMAZING! Teppanyaki is where you are seated at a grill and the chef cooks your food for you right in front of you, which is very cool!

All in all I had the best holiday with my favourite person. We had such an amazing time and made some great friends and memories that we are going to cherish forever. I cannot wait to g on holiday with him again!

Have you been on holiday recently? Do you have any destination recommendations?

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post.

  1. Well done for going on Tower of Power. I lived in Tenerife for a year and never managed to pluck up the courage to do it.

You're lucky you had a clear day when you went up the cable car, we could see absolutely nothing at the top, too foggy!

Glad you had an excellent holiday!

    1. Hi Steph!

Yeah, the Tower of Power was so scary but I am so glad I did it or I would have been very disappointed in myself.
We were really lucky the day we went up, we could see for miles and it was so beautiful, sorry to hear you couldn't see anything! Oh well, gives you an excuse to go back! ;)

Thank you so much for your comment, I'm glad you liked the post!
